How the microstructure influences the fatigue damage in metallic alloys?
This presentation deals with the relationship between the microstructure of alloys at a mesoscopic and microscopic scale and the fatigue damage mechanisms. An experimental procedure is presented in order to understand the mechanisms that take place in case of rolling contact fatigue of railway steel during plastic severe deformation in service.
